Shepherding School: Shearing & Wool Handling

UCCE Placer/Nevada is offering a series of hands-on and classroom workshops for new and aspiring sheep producers.  These programs are designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a small-scale commercial sheep operation!

Shearing and Wool Handling Field Day

Date:  May 2017 (Exact date to be determined)

Time: 8:30am to Noon

Location:  Flying Mule Farm

Auburn, CA

At this hands-on, day-long workshop, students will learn about setting up a shearing site, contracting with a shearer, handling sheep before, during and after shearing, and handling wool and preparing it for marketing.  Participants will also learn the basics of shearing sheep.
