Tapestry Weaving 101

Instructor: Shaine Drake

Catch weaver fever! In this class, you will learn the basics of tapestry weaving so you can make woven wall hangings.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from Bay Area artist Shaine Drake! She will bring in plenty of samples of her own work and a list of her favorite resources.

For true beginners and fiber enthusiasts! No weaving experience required.

You’ll learn: to warp your loom, plain weave, to use multiple colors, to make shapes, to create texture, weaving terminology, finishing and hanging

Materials provided: weavers yarn pack, 7 yards of cotton warp

Materials required: frame loom*, tapestry needle, scissors

* Shaine recommends a small frame loom for class as it is quicker to warp. Verb carries Hokett Would Work looms which are perfect for a beginning weaver! We also stock larger looms, such as Schacht School Looms and Schacht Tapestry Looms. Come in or give us a call to learn more! 510.595.VERB.
