You are invited to our 4th annual Shear-In party on Saturday, April 28th! Shearing will begin at 10, with Matt Gilbert, our local shearer. Learn the basics of wheel operation and maintenance, treadling, pre-drafting, drafting, and spinning yarn. You’ll try spinning three different wool preparations: roving, rolags, and batts. We’ll also talk about spinning “in the grease,” what it means and the pros and cons of spinning unprepared wool. You’ll leave with several spun singles and fiber to practice with. All materials are included! Ages: 14+ Skill Requirements: Drop Spinning OR knowledge and skill of drafting. Taught by: Melanie Perkins
