Ama Wertz is a weaver explorer, a maker & a doer. Ama’s art practice led her to tapestry weaving a few years ago and she hasn’t stopped since. Ama is passionate about incorporating local elements into her woven work, whether it be fiber raised within our local fibershed or natural plants foraged and boiled to create surprising dye shades. Ama likes her work to reflect the time and place it was made, to add to the cultural history of California in its making. She is endlessly inspired by backpacking trips, urban landscapes and architecture, passages in books, portraits of people and cats, and sparkling stained glass.
