Article on the Blog A Visit With Janet Heppler
Nebo-Rock Ranch & Textiles is located in beautiful Round Valley in the northeastern part of Mendocino County, close to the small town of Covelo. Run by Janet Heppler, a fiber rancher with over 33 years of fiber experience, from animal husbandry and ranching to fine fiber arts. The ranch is home to both white and natural-colored Merino sheep, Angora rabbits, and a variety of other farm animals (chickens, horses, a pig, dogs and cats). All the fiber animals produce multiple shades of natural-colored handspinning fiber. Janet is an avid spinner and weaver and knowledgeable about each aspect of fiber processing; she shears her own animals, washes the fiber, spins it into yarn, and weaves the yarn into garments and home goods. Nebo-Rock Ranch produces award-winning fleeces and attends fairs and gatherings throughout the West Coast. Nebo-Rock Ranch is a two-time winner of the Black Sheep Cup at the Black Sheep Gathering.
