Born and raised in Mendocino, California, Jean Near has a 96-year history in her region in the Potter and Redwood Valleys.
Jean’s Utopia Farm raises some of our region’s pre-eminent merino sheep, with more than 40 year’s worth of award winning fleeces coming from the flock. The small herd is just over a few dozen mature sheep that were all born and raised on the ranch; always with careful attention to their well-being and the quality of their wool.
