Marlie de Swart

Fiber artist Marlie de Swart owns Black Mountain Weavers/Artisans, a brick and mortar cooperative store in Point Reyes Station where she sells art-to-wear made by local weavers, knitters and spinners. Most of the goods are made from local wool and most of the artists are from Marin.

In 2011, Marlie and local shepherd Mimi Luebbermann started a yarn company called Local Pastures. The fiber is collected from small farmers and shepherds within a 150 mile radius of West Marin, and the yarn is milled within that distance as well. Most yarns are blends of wool and alpaca to create a natural softness while retaining the resilience of wool, except for the 100% Shetland wools. All yarns are natural colors, no dyes.
