Swatch Local – A Yarn Tasting
September 14, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Event Navigation
Join Stephany Wilkes, author of RAW MATERIAL – Working Wool in the West, for an opportunity to get test out and knit or crochet with local yarns, at low cost and low risk.
The morning will be a book reading and signing from 11:00 – 12:00. There will be an hour lunch break and then a 2-hour tasting from 1:00 – 3:00.
Participants will choose four different local yarns, knit or crochet four swatches, and seam the swatches together into fingerless mitts, creating a wearable sample that shows how local yarns look and wear.
We will have a variety of stitch patterns for all levels of knitters and crocheters!
Yarn is included in class fee. Students should bring their preferred knitting needles for DK/Fingering/Sport and Worsted weights of yarn.
Ages: 8+; Skill requirements: Able to cast on and knit, or chain and crochet.
