Catch weaver fever! In this class, you will learn the basics of tapestry weaving so you can make woven wall hangings.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from Bay Area artist Shaine Drake! She will bring in plenty of samples of her own work and a list of her favorite resources.

For true beginners and fiber enthusiasts! No weaving experience required.

You’ll learn:

– to warp your loom

– plain weave

– to use multiple colors

– to make shapes

– to create texture

– weaving terminology

– finishing and hanging

Materials provided:

– weavers yarn pack

– 7 yards of cotton warp

Materials required:

– frame loom*

– tapestry needle

– scissors

Bio: Shaine Drake is a weaver, marbler, and teacher working and living near the ocean, constantly inspired by her city surroundings as well the wild and beautiful natural landscapes so close by.  She loves creating organic shapes and layering patterns, experimenting with different materials and weaving styles.  Weaving is her form of mediation, a calming creative process where there are no mistakes and so many possibilities.
