Watershed Paper Making Workshop
December 1, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
In this workshop, we will bring our creativity to local watershed stewardship by making beautiful handcrafted paper from the fibrous biomas of invasive plant species removed from local watersheds. The process will include mixing, blending of plant fibers and straining and drying the pulp sheets. Each student will get to make 6 screens, and has the option to combine this workshop with our Native Flora and Fauna Printmaking Workshop the following week.
Both workshops will be held in our cozy upstairs workshop in the Spaulding building. Plan to provide your own lunch. Snacks and Warm Beverages will be provided.
The Instructor(s): Lish Dawn is an independent installation and mixed media artist whose work meditates on a connection to place, engaging and imbedding the materials of a location within the process of making. She has a BFA in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. lish is also a boatyard employee, crane operator, and educator in art youth programs here at Spaulding Boatworks. Assisting lish in these workshops is fellow artist, educator, and boatyard employee, Brooke Cena.
Cost: $175 per person. Class limited to 6. Ages 12 and up.
