Crockett Fiber Arts Studio is a small company dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the fiber arts. Run by fiber artisan Melanie Perkins, Crockett Fiber Art Studio uses locally-sourced fiber and dyes. I try my best to use environmentally responsible processes in my work. I have been knitting and crocheting since I was six, taught by my mother and grandmother. I have been spinning and preparing fiber for about twelve years.
This is a teaching studio. I offer classes in spinning on a drop spindle and on a wheel, preparing raw fleece for spinning, knitting, crochet, beginning rigid heddle weaving, wet felting, Eco Printing, and individual coaching at an hourly rate.
I also teach sock knitting on a circular sock machine. I am the unofficial west coast representative for the Erlbacher Gearhart Circular Sock Machine Company and have two Speedster machines I use for teaching. Circular sock machines are amazing technology with a rich history in the United States and around the world. You are welcome to come by and try one out. Erlbacher Gearhart is a United States company. Their factory is located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. I love using a machine that’s American made!
My hours are Thursday through Sunday, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please check the website calendar for exceptions. I often have weekend events, especially around the holidays.
