Hilary Heaviside studied clothing design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in San Francisco. She has worked as a technical designer in the apparel industry for both small independent designers as well as large corporate companies. She also has experience in pattern making, freelance design, and custom fitting and sewing for private clients.

Hilary loves working with textiles and cloth! At age eight, she sewed her first garment using an old treadle sewing machine. The pattern was drafted on a brown paper bag and the garment was cut from vintage flower sack fabric. Over the years, Hilary continues to up-cycle materials when possible.

To help encourage the re-emergence of the garment industry in Sonoma County, Hilary teaches classes at the Santa Rosa Junior College ( The classes include Clothing Construction, Flat Pattern Design, and Draped Design, and are suitable for all levels. She also designs and sews clothing in her studio in Santa Rosa, California.
