At Oakland Fiber, we believe that slow is better. Our textiles are carefully designed and woven by hand in California, using natural dyes, American grown fibers, and vintage handlooms. Our production model and raw materials are selected for the good they do because we believe beautiful fashion can be had without destroying the environment and people.
Besides making textiles, we also love training new weavers and keeping the craft alive through education and workshops at Oakland Fiber. Come take a workshop in the studio, hire us, or reach out to us with any questions about fiber.
Our Oakland studio is located inside the old California Cotton Mill, once known as the largest cotton mill west of the Mississippi. The California Cotton Mill was converted to artist studios in 2004 but remains a historical landmark with many original features. Visitors to Oakland Fiber can view the cotton mill’s historical exhibit in the lobby.
